New 8" portals: The tallest GDP lift for the HD11. You get the most ground clearance available and room for BIG tires on stock suspension. Pair it with the dual-idler setup for the strongest gear set GDP makes, with 60% or 70% reduction for serious low-end torque.

• Protects your drivetrain. Gear reduction happens at the hub, which takes stress off your CVT, differential, prop shaft, and axles.
• Keeps stock suspension geometry. Your axles won't overextend, and CV joints run cooler and last longer.
• Dual- or single-idler options. Dual idlers spread the load over twice the gear surface for maximum strength under big tires.
• Billet or cast aluminum housings. Choose premium 6061 billet or tough cast, both backed by 5/16" steel alloy plates that are stronger than chromoly.
• Precision-ground 9310 steel gears. They run cool and quiet, even under heavy load.
• 1.5" 4340 hardened steel drive shaft for maximum strength.
• Leak-free sealing. The kit uses advanced gaskets, O-rings, a sealed input gear, and a double-lipped output seal.
• Universal hubs fit 4/156, 4/137, 4/115, and 4/110 bolt patterns.

Wheel Requirements

• 4" Portals: 14"+ wheels with a maximum 4.5" backspacing. Not compatible with dual beadlock wheels.
• 6" Portals: 14"+ wheels. 18" wheels have a maximum 4.5" backspacing, and 20"+ wheels have a maximum 5" backspacing.
• 8" Portals: 22"+ wheels with a maximum 5" backspacing. Wheels need a center bore of at least 3.25" (82.55mm), or you'll need a 1" wheel spacer.

What is the biggest tire I can run with 8" portals on a Defender HD11?
You can run up to 38" tires on stock suspension without rubbing. Larger tires may fit with minor trimming. but adding forward a-arms will solve a lot of issues.

Which gear reduction should I choose?
Choose a lower reduction (15–30%) if you want to keep more top speed. Choose a higher reduction (45–70%) if you need maximum torque for big tires, mud, and rock crawling.

Do I need a frame stiffener?
It's recommended. Big tires and portals add stress to the frame, and a stiffener reinforces it.

What's the difference between dual and single idler?
A dual idler adds a second gear inside the portal box. That spreads the load for maximum strength, and it's ideal for 8" lifts and oversized tires.
